“If you must look back, do so forgivingly. If you must look forward, do so prayerfully. However, the wisest thing you can do is to be present in the present. Gratefully.”

The concept of the power of now has been on my mind a lot lately. Sometimes, it is challenging to remain attentive and enjoy the present, so we often mourn the past and worry about tomorrow instead. Worry is the thief of joy, someone said. We all have some worthy and unforgettable memories, as well as some dreadful and undeniably painful ones. Simultaneously, we are continually waiting for better days, which is excellent, as we must think long-term and move forward in specific segments of our lives. However, in the end, tomorrow is a dream, a potential gift. It is now where happiness and fulfillment live, awaiting our discovery.

For me, now is when I feel the warmth of my family, the laughter of my friends, when I love what I do for a living, when I am submerged in a good novel, when I dance, or when I am visiting a new place, to name a few.

Please share your thoughts if you'd like. How do you live in the present moment?
